Haiti and the Dominican Republic are two separate countries geographically located on the same island of Hispanola, in the Greater Antilles area of the Caribbean Sea. Although the two countries are physically adjacent to one another, living conditions for Haitians are significantly limited compared to their Dominican Republic neighbors, as statistics indicate.
